1.Super Smash Bros Ultimate(Amazon Link)

One of the best games on the Switch and the whole reason I bought one in the first place is the fantastic 2-8 multiplayer beat them up Super Smash Bros. If you’re not familiar with the series I will explain it quickly.

There are 81 different Nintendo characters who all have their own unique special powers and abilities, in a battle to knock each other off the stage. The more damage you have the further you will get knocked back.

The beauty of this game is it can be enjoyed by both professionals and casual fans alike. You put 4 noobs together and let them have fan and battle it out with their favourite Nintendo characters, whilst catering to professional players.

Honestly, there isn’t a game like it, check out the review of one of the best Switch games down below.

Rocket League first arrived on the PS4 & PC in June 2015 and in 2018 it had 50 million players with cross-platform support across the board. There’s a reason why Rocket League is so popular let me tell you about it.

Rocket League is Soccer/Football with cars and it sounds as crazy and fantastic as it sounds! Multiplayer is fantastic across the board with 4 players local co-op in docked mode with two players in handheld.

Up to 8 people can play Rocket League together, either wirelessly or playing online with PS4, Xbox One, PC and other Switch players. It’s as addictive as it is crazy and you and 3 friends could have crazy fun at home and online.

3.Super Bomberman R(Amazon Link)Opens in a new tab.

The ideal Switch multiplayer experience, Super Bomberman R is the latest game in the arcade hit series that was released in 1983. The gameplay revolves around you and 3 buddies fighting over a square grid. The idea is to lay bombs to destroy blocks, pick up power-ups and trap your opponents with an explosion hence the name ‘Bomberman’.

This was released full price as a Switch launch title in 2017 but it didn’t just seem like a fully priced game like Breath Of The Wild. However, it is far cheaper now and has actually received some welcome improvements since it first released.

If you want some 4 players local co-op fun you can’t go wrong with super Bomberman R, check out a review of the classic Konami franchise down below.

Mario Kart 8 originally was released on the Wii U a console that no one bought. Rereleasing a new and improved version on the Switch was a fantastic move on Nintendos part, and it’s one of the best local co-op madness you can have with your friends.

This ‘Deluxe’ edition includes all the DLC for the original game with a new and improved battle mode, where you fight each other instead of racing. Race up to 4 people on one console with up to 8 players with wireless play, you can even network 12 Switch consoles together for a cool Mario Kart LAN party! Everything is included.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is very accessible, with accessibility options such as auto-accelerate, steering assist and easy maps which allows you to play with young children, or your friend who’s never even touched a controller!

If you want one of the best 4 player local-coup experiences for your Switch, look no further than Mario Kart 8 on the Switch. Check out a review of the game right here.

5.Super Mario Party (Amazon Link)Opens in a new tab.

Opens in a new tab.

Super Mario Party has been a Nintendo fan favourite since Nintendo 64 with tons of entries to its names. Join with up to 4 local split-screen players and compete in over 80 minigames and take turns going through the four main boards, that are drastically different with each round being interesting.

Super Mario Party adds Partner Party which is a 2v2 mode and the team gameplay is a lot more strategic than the traditional free for all mode. The online multiplayer is quite basic, but offline is where the game truly shines and it’s perfect for friend & family game nights.

Only single joy-cons can be used and unfortunately, there is no handheld mode or Pro Controller support. Either way, this is one of the best family/friend experiences on the Switch, check out the review below for everything Super Mario Party.

Picture a competitive cooking game that you can play with your grandma, done? Well, you just pictured Overcooked 2, where you can compete with 2-4 players in a race to make food for hungry patrons.

You do everything in normal cooking from chopping, frying and putting the ingredients onto plates before a race to bring the finished plate to the waiters counter.

There’s teamwork involved as you can pass ingredients to your teammates, but one mistake with the rapid pace of the Kitchen could cost you. The Kitchens always move so you’re playing a cooking platformer in essence!

Remember this is when your working together but IMAGINE if there’s a competitive multiplayer! But there is! You can compete against your granny and second cousin to see who was the worst chef. Overcooked 2 is fantastic and perfect for the Switch. There is a local 4 player co-op with online multiplayer.

Feeling hungry? Check out the Overcooked 2 review below and see if it hits the belly.

12.Payday 2(Amazon Link)Opens in a new tab.

Opens in a new tab.

Payday 2 is a game where you rob banks in groups of four, and every player will need their own console and a copy of the game as unfortunately there is no local split-screen support. Online is still quite basic as the Switches voice chat, and vocal communication is critical in this game.

However, if you have 4 people in the same room Payday 2 is a blast. Payday2 involves preparation with some stealth and being able to execute on your previous plan with superb communication.

The Switch version might have worse visuals and frame rate, but it has tons of DLC content added through the years and you can pick up and play anywhere.! For everything Payday 2 check out the review below.

ARMS is a unique fighter that is with a lot of hidden depth, it is colourful and gorgeous with a mix of realistic environments and detailed characters. The motion controls are some of the best on the Switch.

It doesn’t have a chunky single-player campaign but it will live and die with online and local multiplayer. Luckily it supports 4 players local split-screen co-op and if you’re looking for a fantastic way to beat up your friends/family check out a review of the brawler down below.
