Can You Zoom In On Minecraft? (Is It Possible)

Being the most played sandbox game of all time, Minecraft has a special place in gamers of all ages. And they want to look more ‘closely’ into it. But can you zoom in on Minecraft?

Minecraft offers a built-in zoom in feature through which the players can change the game’s field of view (FOV). A lower field of view value will result in a zoom-in screen, while a high FOV means that you’ll see more things on the screen.

Mojang’s Studios has worked hard to develop this incredible game that can be played both as a solo or a multi-player game. However, its zooming feature can sometimes be confusing for the players.

Since Minecraft is a sandbox game, appearance matters a lot to the users. If you’re worried about the zoom-in and zoom-out feature settings, don’t worry — I have got you covered.

I will explain how you can zoom in on Minecraft step by step, how the map in Minecraft can be enlarged, and how big is a Minecraft world. Read on to find out.

How to Zoom In Minecraft

  1. Press Esc Key to Open Minecraft Settings
  2. Click on the ‘Options’
  3. Adjust Field of View (FOV) By Sliding The Cursor to the Left For Zooming In
  4. Select ‘Done’ to New Changes
  5. Exit Settings and check the Zoom

It’s the very official way through which you can tweak the zoom settings in Minecraft but not a convenient one. For zooming in or out with this method, you will have to pause the game, which of course — doesn’t sound much exciting.

Pausing whatever you’re doing in the game just to adjust the camera angle isn’t the fastest option. Therefore, there are other quicker options for changing the field of view (FOV) in Minecraft.

How to Zoom In Minecraft With Optifine Mod

  1. Download Java SE Development Kit Installer
  2. Install Java SED
  3. Download Optifine and Install it Using On-Screen Instructions
  4. Select Optifine World in Minecraft Launcher

Make sure that the Optifine mod is loaded before you launch the game. To check it, look for the text ‘Optifine’ in the box at the Play Button’s left-hand side. If it isn’t visible, tap the box, and you’ll likely see it in the drop-down menu.

Once you load the game, you can zoom-in by simply pressing and holding the ‘C’ key. It’s the most convenient way of using the zoom feature in Minecraft.

But I would like to share one more way here, just to let you equipped with all the possible methods of zooming in Minecraft.

How to Zoom in Minecraft Using Slowness Potion

Slowness potion creates a zoomed-in effect when consumed at the cost of slowing down the character. Here’s how to make one:

  1. Collect 1 Fermented Spider Eye, 1 Potion of Swiftness (1:30), and Brewing Stand
  2. Open Brewing Stand & Add a Blaze Powder to Activate the Stand
  3. In the topmost box, add ‘1 Fermented Spider Eye’
  4. Add ‘1 Potion of Swiftness’ in the left or right bottom box
  5. Your Slowness Potion Will Become Available in the Middle Bottom Box

Now, whenever you want to zoom in on Minecraft, drink a slowness potion that creates a slowness effect (movement speed reduced by 15% for 90 seconds.)

Is it the best way to zoom in on Minecraft? — I think not.

It will cost the movement speed and the resources just for the movement, and I don’t think this it is a good idea.

How Do You Enlarge a Map In Minecraft?

  1. Craft a Cartography Table
  2. In Hotbar, Select ‘Cartography Table’
  3. Place the Cartography Table By Positioning the Pointer
  4. Add Map and the Paper
  5. Once Done, Larger Map Will Appear

The resources required to enlarge a map in Minecraft are as follows:

  • 1 Cartography Table
  • 1 Paper
  • 1 Map

That’s it — You are now able to enlarge a map in Minecraft using a Cartography table!

How Big Is a Minecraft World?

Minecraft world’s area is 60,000 square kilometers, 80,500 Minecraft worlds would fit into Earth. There are around 256 blocks from the sky to the ground in Minecraft, 60 million blocks in the horizontal and vertical direction, so 30 million blocks are there in any direction from the center.

It’s a short answer — But I have a detailed one too for Minecraft nerds who like big numbers.

There are 60 million blocks in the horizontal and vertical direction in terms of blocks, which means that 30 million blocks are there in any direction from the center.

Here’s another argument — Due to some gaming pundits rant that the Minecraft world is infinite and one can never reach the edge. Is it true?

Are Minecraft Worlds Really Infinite?

Minecraft worlds are not infinite. Due to hardware limitations, there is a restriction for Minecraft world’s size a world cannot be bigger than 4,294,967,294 blocks squared.

Now we know that Minecraft worlds are finite and do have an end. Let’s talk about how much time it would require to travel all around the Minecraft world.

The walking speed is usually around 4.317 meters/second in Minecraft. And if we are talking about sprinting, then it is 5.612 meters/second.

So, if we sprint from one end to the other, it will take approximately 123 days (assuming that the world is flat and doesn’t have water.) Walking would increase the time to around 160 days.

Consider that you’re doing it manually and run 8 hours every day just to reach the end of the world. It will cost you a year to travel.

So technically, the world is not infinite, but it is undoubtedly larger than the space you need to survive and create wonderful creations, the worlds are not infinite but it sure feels like it is.
